Tytherington Rocks 1 North Leigh Reserves 3

TYTHERINGTON Rocks' revival took a blow on Saturday when they were beaten by a lively North Leigh Reserves side at Hardwicke Playing Fields.

The home side's first serious attack on the visitors' goal was from a Jim Brock cross on 17 minutes but Ashley McDowall was unable to convert the chance.

At the other end, new keeper Dan Jesionowski dealt confidently with the occasional probing crosses from North Leigh.

The best chance of the game fell to Rocks' Nathan Hughes, who glided the ball agonisingly past the visitor's right-hand post.

However, on 30 minutes an innocuous looking free kick from Alfie Saunders eluded Jesionowski, giving George Seacole the easiest of finishes to open the scoring for the visitors.

Chance then fell to both teams but two minutes before the interval some slick inter-passing between the North Leigh Reserves forwards gave Andy Caton the opportunity to increase their lead to 2-0, which he took.

Undaunted, a confident move by Rocks one minute later saw a Dan Marshall cross hammered into the top right hand corner of the visitors' goal by Abdenour Amroui to reduce the deficit.

The goal gave Rocks reason for optimism as the second half began, but the visitors, attacking immediately, hit the home crossbar.

Tytherington contested without luck for 15 minutes with Hughes showing an impressive work-rate.

Amroui was replaced by Luke Patten but the balance of power was beginning to swing towards North Leigh Reserves.

North Leigh maintained their pressure and, pouncing on a through-ball, Caton took the score to 3-1.

During the last 10 minutes several moves from the visitors ended with dogged defence from the home team, in particular Marshall.

For all their hard work, Tytherington were victims of last phase breakdowns.

Their next home game is on Saturday, October 11 against Cirencester Town Development, 3pm.
