Hellenic League Division One West

Tytherington Rocks 1 Cirencester Town Development 6

ONCE again, Tytherington Rocks played well for the first half and faded away in the second, conceding five goals in the final 45 minutes to lose three more points at home.

Rocks took the lead in the 11th minute when a corner taken on the left by Ashley McDowell was partly cleared and met by McDowell, who drilled home a superb shot into the top far corner of the net from the edge of the penalty box.

The home side continued to have the majority of play but sadly too many passes were going astray and the finishing was not good enough.

Cirencester were also playing at a fierce pace and created chances, but like the home side their finishing was off target.

However in the 28th minute they got the equaliser when a ball floated in the from left was met by Jack Smith, who gently headed home from the six-yard box with Rocks keeper Chris Mann stranded in no man's land.

The second half was only five minutes old when Mann was adjudged to have fouled Scott Reynolds and Tom Luce stepped up to convert the penalty to put Town 2-1 up.

Within minutes Rocks should have scored two goals when two excellent chances were created but neither were taken by McDowell, who on both occasions delayed his shot and lost the opportunity.

With Cirencester now out-playing the home side they went on to score four more goals through Liam O'Brien on 67 minutes, Danny Gudger one minute later, Jack Smith on 78 minutes and Danny Gudger in the final minute.

Rocks are home to New College Swindon this Saturday, 3pm.

* Tytherington Reserves lost by the odd goal in five against Avonmouth in the Bosley Cup away.

Rocks were leading 2-0 with three minutes to go when somehow Avonmouth managed to win the game by scoring three goals in the last three minutes, to leave manager Rich Lee shocked.

Tytherington Reserves are away to Ashton United on Saturday, October 18, 2.30pm.
