THORNBURY seconds faced the youngsters of Clifton fourths in Berkeley Division Two of the West Women's Hockey League last Saturday and went down 6-1. Lorna Thornton scored the consolation goal for Thornbury, who visit Badminton on Saturday.
The cumulative effect of University Open Days, a school foreign visit and injuries forced the Thornbury thirds game to be cancelled but they hope to be able to visit Wotton-under-Edge seconds in Division Three on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Thornbury under-14s were unlucky to lose 1-0 against Clevedon in the Avon league.
The local girls gave a committed performance, which augurs well for the future, and manager Sara Newman praised the whole-hearted commitment of the team.
