OLVESTON found themselves 5-1 down at the interval against top of the table Mendip, who have won all their eight league games.
George Williams scored the visitors' goal in the first half.
The second half saw a much-improved Olveston and Williams scored two quick goals and completed his hat-trick to reduce the arrears to 5-3.
Matt Knight nearly scored for the visitors after a fine run and could have made the score 5-4, however the home side scored two late goals to run out 7-3 winners.
This was a steep learning curve for Olveston, who must improve when they take on Avonmouth in the GFA Senior Cup this Saturday at home, 2pm.

AFTER trailing 2-0, Olveston Reserves romped to victory with goals from Chris Auburn (4), Matt Roberts (3), Leo Glew and Will Howard.
