SEVERN Road Club’s Matt Burden continued his excellent season so far on the bike with a fantastic second place in a big event over the Severn Bridge in Wales.

Burden took part in the Blaenau Gwent 25 Time Trial last Sunday and finished second, covering the Monmouthshire course in 49.20mins and beating the man he calls an inspiration – Rob Pears – into fourth in the process.

He was, though, just under two minutes behind the winner, winner Kieron Davies, of Team NBCC, who clocked a course record of 47.31mins for the third fastest 25-mile time so far this year and a new course record.

Burden has been in sensational form this year and has already broken the Dursley RC ten mile Time Trial record.

Conrad Moss, of Mid-Devon CC, completed the podium in Wales by finishing third in a time of 49.26mins.
