ALMONDSBURY entertained Winterbourne on Saturday in a thoroughly entertaining game that fell the way of the visitors by 3 wickets.

Batting first Almondsbury stuttered to 86-4 with Kavinder, Gary Goodwin, Ben Morley and Jack Kewley all making starts.

Ross Hollbrook found a willing partner in Danny Webber and the pair took the score onto 152 before Hollbrook fell for a well crafted 46.

Webber however continued with some controlled hitting and together with the lower order set a target of 185-6.

Webber finishing undefeated on 46.

For Winterbourne, Lewis Ford (8-1-23-3), David Moller (12-3-30-2), and Richard Jarman (12-0-40-1) all bowled well to keep the visitors in the game.

In reply, the Winterbourne started swiftly moving onto 28 inside four overs before Matt Smith pinned Kevin Slade LBW for 17.

Paul Dagger then played on to one from Pepall and was dismissed for four.

Sam Emmott was beginning to look dangerous before he fell to Pepall bowled round his legs and at 55-3, the game was finely balanced.

Kieran Slade and Robert Corin started to rebuild Winterbourne's innings before Slade fell run out to a fine throw from Ross Hollbrook.

Pepall then bowled Moller through the gate before Hollbrook claimed his second run out, that of Jarman for two.

Corin continued to bat sensibly and brought up a fine 50 before being bowled by Danny Webber for 54.

At 133-7 Almondsbury were in control but Ian Rawlings (25 not) and Alistair Clews (22 not) put on 58 for the eighth wicket and saw the visitors home with an over to spare.

Matt Smith 1-46 and Danny Webber 1-40 claimed valuable wickets for the home side but the evergreen Fraser Pepall returned fine figures of 11-4-11-3.
