Thornbury 191 ao beat Bristol YMCA 166 all out by 25 runs

MATT Scarborough hit 35 from just 34 ball and Alex Allen took six wickets for 49 runs as Thornbury thirds took secured a third win out of five matches when beating Bristol YMCA by 25 runs.
On a good looking pitch down at Tockington Manor School, YMCA won the toss and elected to field.
Openers Simon Weeks and Ali Dury soon began to set a good foundation for Thornbury, ticking along at isx an over until Weeks missed a straight one and was bowled by James McKimm.
Druryi followed soon after when he was caught off the bowling of Sam Higgins for a cultured 28 which brought to the crease sather and son Mark and Alex Allen.
They both played well , with Alex making 17 and Mark 19, before falling when trying to accelerate the run rate.
That brought Stuart McWhinnie and Scarborough to the crease and both played some aggressive shots to muster 25 and 35 respectively to get the hosts to a respectable 191 All out.
Thornbury were also grateful to a generous Bristol YMCA bowling attack who handed them an enormous forty extras in their 39.5 overs which included 25 wides.
After tea, both McWhinnie and Sam Williams picked up early wickets, with McWhinnie taking Peter Kirk, thanks to a catch from Alex Allen, for two and Williams having Matt Pickford caught by Scarborough for only five.
That left YMCA on 12-2 but Bristol began to rebuild their innings, with DJ Collard hitting 55 before he became an lbw victim in Allen’s six-wicket haul.
Josh Lintern came on for his Thornbury third team debut to bowl well and was unlucky not to get a wicket in his five overs for 15 runs.
YMCA’s batsmen got frustrated and fell behind the run rate so it was set nicely for spin twins Alex and Mark Allen to take advantage.
Alex in particular getting turn out of the rough picked up regular wickets with his dad unlucky not to strike as he finished without a wicket from his ten overs but only at a cost of 34 runs.
Sam Williams returned to mop up and finished with 3-15 from 6.3 overs. The bowlers were well supported by the team with two excellent catches in particular from Ollie Humphries.
Humphries caught Steve Millman for 12 and added McKimm to his list off for 19.
