Nailsea 1sts v Old Down 1sts
A HOT, dry day at Nailsea left Old Down chasing the action as the home team openers G. Dann (15) and H. Davies (34) started well before N. Drury (149 not out) dominated the proceedings with a powerful knock.
He was supported later on by T. Chadegasingh (23) and T. Batchelor (45 not out), as Nailsea mustered an ominous 306-3.
That Old Down were weakened by the absence of several key players did not help, but only a spirited Dave Dimely (2-39) and Jordan Rouse (1- 64) could take any wickets.
The visitors’ reply lacked substance from the outset with both openers going cheaply.
Indeed, only number eight Mark Williams, with five fours and three sixes in his 42, could assemble a decent score.
Unlucky lbw victim George Williams, Russell Knight and Dave Dimely managed to scrape 18 apiece with young number eleven, Josh Riggs (15) bringing up the rear, as Old Down were hustled to a paltry 146 all out.
R. Morris (2-42), L. Lester (4-40) and J. Taylor (2-23) were the wicket takers in Nailsea’s comfortable victory.
