Nailsea 196-8 beat Almondsbury 104 all out by 92 runs

ALMONDSBURY are sixth in the Bristol and District League Senior Division after going down to defeat to Nailsea in their mid-table battle last Saturday.
In the end, Almondsbury were well beaten by the home side.
Batting first, Nailsea amassed 196-8 in their allotted overs with Peter Hardcastle making a half century for the home side.
Opener Mike Ready added 39 to the total but Nailsea’s innings was supplemented by some middle-order wagging with the bat as three players all got over 20 to ensure a challenging total for Almondsbury to chase.
Aaron Jones, who finished with figures of 2-36,  which were exactly the same figures as those of Garth Jackson, and Greg Stephens 3-45 were the Almondsbury wicket takers.
In reply, Almondsbury were never in the hunt as they were dismissed for 104.
Greg Stephens top scored with 22 from 46 balls that included four boundaries, and five other batsmen got themselves in and then out with scores in the teens but it was, all in all, a disappointing performance for Andrew Parkinson’s side.
l Almondsbury seconds returned to winning ways on Saturday in the Bristol and District League Fourth Division with an 11-run victory over The Taveners.
Batting first, Almondsbury posted 174-7 in their allotted overs mainly thanks to the in-form Kulvinder Sappal with 56.
He was well backed by Ross Holbrook (31), skipper Ben Morley (20) and an undefeated 25 from Chris Slade towards the close.
In reply, Almondsbury defended their total well thanks mainly to the younger element of the side.
Chris Slade returned excellent figures of 12 overs 5-28 and he was well supported by Avin Litt with 3-21 in his 9.1 overs to complete a well-deserved yet much needed victory for Ben Morley’s side.
