Avon Youth League Division 5
Thornbury Town U13s  10  AEK Boco Jnrs 0

THORNBURY Town went off the pitch with a smile on their faces after they thumped AEK Boco Jnrs in an entertaining first league game of the season.
Thornbury went into the game full of confidence after a great pre-season.
Both teams started slow and struggled to get hold of the game.
Thornbury eventually started executing their game plan and a midfield three of Matthew Pegg, Leo Reeves and Ethan Jury took control of proceedings.
The Thorns broke the deadlock through Archie Walker who was played through by Matthew Bijster. Walker finished with a low shot into the corner.
Boco did look dangerous on the counter but the back three of Ben Vizard, Josh Lyden and Kai Fowler cleared the danger.
Thornbury continued to press getting the ball out wide and from some wonderful crosses put in for William Hendy and Jordon Tyers, Thornbury finished the first-half 4-0 up, with goals from Ethan Jury and Matthew Pegg  adding to Walker’s effort.
The second-half was very much all about Thornbury, as they continued to press and put the Boco defence under pressure.
Some excellent passing from Gaby Cerullo and James Harrod kept the chances coming.
Sam Stuart was called into action late on with a wonderful one-on-one save to keep a clean sheet.
Thornbury finished the second-half scoring a further six goals, as Walker completed his hat-trick,  Pegg got his second and James Harrod and Matthew Bijster scored one each.
It was, undoubtedly, an excellent performance from every player on the pitch for Thornbury.
