Thornbury 1 Westberries 3rds 5
THORNBURY came back to earth with a bump on Saturday against visiting Westberries. Jen Arnolds side got off to the worst possible start when, after just 90 seconds, a hit out was gratefully received by a Westberries player who gave stand in keeper
Sara Newman no chance .Poppy Woolnough and Rosie Liddington combined intelligently to feed Nicola Bruce and Tracey Jones and a number of shots were well dealt with by the visitors.
Alex Arnold roamed effectively and was rewarded when she scored the solitary home goal on the stroke of half time following a well-directed Rachel Underwood pass.
Alice Leaper and Izzy Hunter probed sensibly in mid field and Tess Wheatley and Elaine Arnold defended stoutly. The visitors ,although quicker on the ball, could only manage two goals in the second half to gain a 5-1 victory .
Thornbury visit Bristol on Saturday hoping to return to winning ways.Meanwhile, Thornbury seconds again struggled in their game at Avonmouth going down by a similar 5-1 margin.
Sarah Brearley's side play Wick seconds at Castle School on Saturday 10.30am.
