Les James Cup
Thornbury Town 2 Henbury 1
THORNBURY Town, the reigning champions, have again reached the Les James Cup semi-finals after a 2-1 win over Henbury. The game started really well for the home side with Luke Franklin chipping the keeper after just 27 seconds after receiving a long ball over the Henbury defence.
The visitors drew level on 22 minutes when Reece Purnell drove his shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards.
Within a minute Thornbury were back in front when Craig Lancastle set up Nathan Irwin to score. There were no further goals in the second half but both sides finished the game with 10 players as first Thornbury’s Scott McLeod received a straight red card in the 70th minute and Reece Purnell was sent off in the 85th minute for Henbury after picking up a second yellow card.
