Tytherington Rocks 3 Letcombe 0

IN rainy cold conditions and both teams looking for points Rocks took the game to Letcombe and for long periods enjoyed the majority of play.

Tytherington Rocks had to fight back from a 4-0 loss at Fairford last week and created scoring chances but again failed to hit the target and when on the odd occasion the Letcombe keeper was called into action he thwarted Rocks efforts which otherwise went wide of the posts.

Letcombe scored two goals when breaking free of Rocks defense but both were ruled out for offside.

With Sean Keet returning to the club and playing in a strikers role the attack looked stronger and his presence helped the team dominate the play, however at half time the teams came off without finding the net.

The second half started with Rocks in full control and after five minute play Tom Brennan set himself up with a shot from the left which keeper Danny Joyce just held onto, on fifty five minutes a pass from Sean Keet to Nick Jones brought a speculative goal when Nick Jones with his back to goal turned the ball over the keepers head with a back heel to put the Rocks one up.

Following this goal Joe Walters shot just wide of the post before a cross from Joshua Charles on the right was collected by Sean Keet who shot from inside the penalty area and beat the keeper low down to his right for number two.

Letcombe came back on the attack after this setback and should have scored from point blank range which went straight to keeper Chris Manns...

With ten minutes remaining Rocks scored their third goal from a penalty taken by Joe Walters after Tom Brennan on a run into the penalty box was brought down and the defender involved was given a red card after already having been giving a yellow card earlier and sent off.

The Rocks deserved this win and the three points will help in their efforts to move away from the lower part of the league.

Rocks next home game is against Royal Wootton Bassett in The UHL Sports Floodlight Cup on Wednesday 4th November at The Hardwicke Field KO 7.45pm.
