Easington Sports 11 Tytherington Rocks 0

TYTHERINGTON Rocks made their longest league journey to play Easington Sports on the worst Saturdays weather of the season driving rain and strong winds with a completely changed team.

Manager Nigel Gaston was without nine of his regular team players, four out with injuries, the keeper suspended, four out due to work commitments of previous engagements and only two of his regular players in the eleven that played for the whole 90 minutes, with seven of the players teenagers.

In spite of the team being under strength and the number of goals conceded, they put in a tremendous amount of work and at times played some very good football under atrocious conditions which existed through out the game, captain Shamori Sengor normally a midfielder played in central defence and was outstanding.

Sports scored at regular intervals and was awarded a dubious penalty just before half time during when a collision between Rocks sixteen year old keeper Joe Purnell and a Sports player resulted in the keeper injuring his left arm and with no sub bravely carried on for the rest of the game and brought off some good saves.

This game perhaps should not have been played in the conditions existing at the start, and long before play ended the playing conditions were awful with the state of the pitch more like a glue pot and dark before play ended.

Scorers for Sports being Stidder 3, Robinson 4, McMahon 2, Welch 1 and an og.

Rocks next game is at home on Saturday 5th December against Cirencester Town Dev KO 3.00pm
