THORNBURY Junior golfer Nick Ramshaw has capped a fine season by winning the Jeff Hall Trophy.

Having got off to the best possible start by winning the first two events of the season, Ramshaw has maintained both his form and the lead in the merit table and has finally clinched his victory at the final event of the season at Long Ashton Golf Club.

Ramshaw ultimately took the title by 105 points from Jamie Andrew (Broadway GC), who made a late run for the title by jointly winning the final event, but Ramshaw’s fourth place finish was enough to hold off Jamie’s challenge. Ramshaw has also won the Bristol and District Junior League Gross Order of Merit this year which is a great effort form the youngster. Golfers are given points for their placings in 15 Open events in the Bristol and District League and Ramshaw topped the board with 20 points. Meanwhile, Thornbury Golf Club has had a change of personnel in the junior section.

The Junior Golf at the course will now be under new manager Tim Good is very keen to build a strong junior section to aid the development of the club and build a strong senior group of players for the future.
