THORNBURY gained a deserved victory against a combative home side with goals from Alex Arnold and Laura Hayward.
BAC took the lead inside the first two minutes but Jen Arnold’s side gradually came more into the game with Rosie Liddington and Alice Stephens prominent.
Liz Jenkins in goal assisted by some solid defending from Tess Wheatley and Elaine Arnold dealt effectively with the home side attacks allowing Sara Newman and Jen Arnold to control the mid field exchanges.
Nikki Bruce and Rachel Underwood probed incessantly up front and it was from an Underwood pass that allowed Laura Hayward to equalise.
Alex Arnold contributed her usual all-energy performance and scored the decisive goal to give her side three welcome points, Thornbury entertain Westberries fourths on Saturday at Castle School 12noon.

THE game was anything but a boring scoreless encounter between two equally matched sides.
Thornbury had most of the early pressure with Jess Taylor and Megan McLachlan causing Avonmouth some problems with their dangerous runs.
Felicity Harper and Emma Matthews contributed a number of nice touches in midfield whilst Lauren Upham, Holly Gardner and Amy Morse gave their usual committed performances.
Thornbury welcomed back Elaine Dreyton after injury and she, along with Angela Greenslade and Hannah Williams, were in control in defence to prevent the visitors from getting near goal where Larly Staton had a comparatively quiet match thanks to the defensive trio.
Thornbury host Wick seconds on Saturday at Castle School, 10.30am, looking to gain revenge for their recent defeat at Wick.
