DURSLEY Running Club’s Neil Hodgson was in fine form at the Paris half-marathon on March 5, coming home in one hour 21.08 minutes and knocking a fantastic two minutes off his previous personal best.

On the same day at the Lago Maggiore half-marathon, Alice Lewis was first FV55, finishing in a time of 1:48:05.

Meanwhile, five DRC members completed the Bath Half on Sunday in, according to Dave Saunders, “perfect running conditions”.

Saunders had a ‘Best for Age’ entry and got to start the race on the front grid with the elite athletes, which meant that he completed the first mile in just over six minutes and suffered as a result for the rest of the race.

Mark Brasier was first in with a solid sub-90-minute effort, with Saunders just ahead of Fred Yearsley. Avril Yearsley returned to the fray with a solid run.

At Gloucester AC’s 20-mile race, three DRC athletes were present. Led home by Dave Halford in two hours 54 minutes, Andy Kilby showed Rob Woodward a clean pair of heels with the latter suffering from blisters and subsequently cramp. Woodard could console himself with the best category placing for the club, 11th MV60.

At Minchinhampton 10k, DRC had another good turnout with 13 entrants. Kevin Jackson led the club home and was fourth in the MV50 category. Caroline Whitlock and Anya Wood ran PBs despite the hilly course.

l Damian Lai and Rach Goatman-Thomas ran the Silverstone Half, both finishing in two hours 30:13 minutes.

This is another step on the pair’s incredible running journey.
