WINTERBOURNE International Academy swimmers did themselves proud at the Bristol Schools Swimming Gala Finals on Tuesday last week by claiming four new records and a selection of bronze, silver and gold medals.
The Intermediate boys team did exceptionally well by achieving gold in the Freestyle Relay, breaking the record they set in the heats and then repeated this feat in the Medley Relay. Jedd Woodruff broke another record and took gold in the 50m Breaststroke final. Jack Smith and Sam Lewis took silver in their individual events and the boys were awarded the overall team trophy.
The Junior boys also took gold and broke the record in their Medley Relay and backed it up with a silver from Sam Oxley in the backstroke and a bronze from Sam Taylor in the breaststroke event.
Our two girls also swam well in their individual events. Georgie Locke took silver in her breaststroke event.
PE Teacher Trish Lewis said "We are very proud of how our students performed in this competition. They are all very talented swimmers! Without the support of parents this event could not have happened so a huge thanks to them for transporting children, volunteering on the poolside and supporting from the balcony!"
