IT may not have been the best way to end but Thornbury are celebrating victory in the Stroud and District Table Tennis League this season.
They took the Division One crown with a game to go but lost their last match as they went down 7-3 at home to the league runners-up, Woodchester A.
David Buck was man of the match scoring a maximum for the visitors.
Yate finished off a successful campaign in the top division by beating the visiting Woodchester B 6-4 although it was the visitors Clive Ellison who was man of the match scoring a hat-trick of singles wins.
In Division Two, Thornbury B’s Simon Lewis and Mark Attwood each went unbeaten as their side beat a two-man Woodchester C by 8-2.
Elsewhere, Cam A secured the runners up spot in Division Three after comfortably beating their hosts.
And in Division Four, a tense finished to the season didn’t happen as the late withdraw of one of the teams gave Cam B the title.
