Avon Youth League Division Four
Thornbury Town U14 2 Bromley Heath Utd U14 3
THORNBURY Town Under-14s suffered a disappointing result as they struggled to make much headway.
The first half was uneventful with few scoring chances. Town’s Mike Winnett made a few good runs on the right wing and Aaron Barnes knocked in a shot from outside the area.
The deadlock was finally broken in the opening minutes of the second half, another good Rhys Trohear corner found Chris Webbe who, with great control, volleyed the ball into the net to give Thornbury a 1-0 lead.
The home advantage was shortlived though, a well-taken penalty at the other end brought the score level and then Bromley added a second.
Thornbury went further behind but put themselves back in the game when a long looping strike by Charlie Hoyle hit the back of the net.
With time running out Thornbury were unable to add another although Chris Webbe’s free kick was close.
