Thornbury seconds 255-7 beat Oldlands 223 all out by 33 runs

THORNBURY seconds lost the toss and got put into bat on another very good track, didn’t quite go to plan early on as Ed Webb got trapped LBW for 4, meaning an inform Josh Slade joining Marcus Wormwell at the crease.

Josh got the scoreboard ticking as his first 3 balls went for 4 and got the Thornbury innings up and running.

The score past 100 in the 13 over with both Thornbury batsmen lining up big scores, a collection of good running and shot play helped Thornbury to 130 for 1 at drinks.

Thornbury moved on 162 before Marcus Wormwell fell caught on the mid-wicket boundary off the bowling of Gardner for 67, this brought Tom Bradley to the crease who had a quick and breezy 11 of 11 until he was bowled by Reeves with the score on 182 for 3.

This started a little collapse with the next 3 wicket falling for just 8 runs, leaving Thornbury on 190 for 6. This meant 2 new batsmen at the crease in Luke Franklin and Sayeem Waliullah who put on much needed 66 run partnership to finish of the innings Franklin ran out on the last ball for 34 and Waliullah 31*.

The Oldlands innings got off to very good start putting on 78, until Luke Messer came on to bowl and got the break through, bowling Thomas for 21, Groves fell for 59 off the bowling of Alex Allen in unfortunate fashion with the ball being hit back at the bowler and then rebounding onto the stumps.

Thornbury were on top for the duration of the Innings with some very tight and consistent bowling, Oldlands were restricted to 228 all out, the pick of the bowlers Josh Slade 8-27-3 Luke Franklin 9-3-21-3 Alex Allen also picked up a couple and Luke Messer picking up the all-important first.
