A TALENTED team of young dressage riders from South Gloucestershire have surpassed themselves by winning the Wales and West Midlands Land Rover Pony Club Regional Dressage Championship.

Held near Cirencester last Saturday, the girls, who are all under 13 and members of the Berkeley Hunt South Pony Club, rode into first place in the team competition, beating off 37 qualifying clubs and almost 150 competitors.

The team, consisted of Megan Snow (10) ,from Tockington, Katherine Lay (11), from Charfield, Ellie Coleman (13), of Woodford and Ellie Howell (11), from Cromhall.

They were awarded with championship sashes, and their rosettes were signed by Gloucestershire’s Rio 2016 Olympic Equestrian squad member Hayley Watson-Greaves.

Top placed individual team member, Megan Snow, also finished sixth in the overall rider placings.

Eileen Hilleard, the club’s District Commissioner said: “This is a marvellous result for the girls who have demonstrated some significant talent on pretty much a national stage.”
