Lydney 3rds 2 Thornbury 8
Thornbury firsts travelled to Lydney and gained a welcome 8/2 victory which augurs also well for the new season.
Jenny Arnold’s side trailed 1/0 before Lucy Woodrough replied. The home side again took the lead but a 7 goal blitz from a determined Thornbury side put the result beyond question.
Lucy produced a player of the match performance scoring a further three goals to total four in all. The experienced Nicki Bruce scored a brace whilst Megan McLachlan , on her 1st team debut added another.
Captain Arnold, who scored a goal, and Amanda Mcgarry-Ponting were livewires in midfield and Tess Wheatley made a number of solid tackles in defence whilst Liz Jenkins showed all her experience in goal.
Senior player Sara Newman stated that the performance of the younger players was pleasing to witness.
Thornbury entertain South Gloucs on Saturday at Castle School 10.30am hoping to continue their good start.
