THORNBURY started confidently and put the visitors under pressure. Amanda Mcgarry and Jen Arnold worked tirelessly in midfield and combined to set up the opening score for Laura Haywood.

The visitors came more into the game and equalised shortly after. Izzy Hunter , Rosie Liddington and Lucy Woodruff created a number of openings for Rachel Underwood and Poppy Woolnough but further goals were not forthcoming for the home side.

The visitors took the lead with a scrambled effort and scored a third early in the second half. Tess Wheatley, Elaine Arnold and Sarah Newman effectively dealt with a number of visiting attacks and Liz Jenkins in goal made some pleasing saves.

Thornbury were denied a clear stroke in the second half when a powerful Laura Haywood shot was stopped on the line by a defender who suffered an ankle injury as a result and had to be carried from the pitch. Thornbury visit Bristol on Saturday looking to gain their second victory .
