Hellenic League Division One West
Clanfield FC 1 Tytherington Rocks 0
TYTHERINGTON Rocks lost to a late goal once again after dominating the game until a killer goal in the 80th from a well worked move when the ball came from the right and was headed low into the net by Mike Duerdon.
The game was played at a fairly high tempo with both teams intent on attacking, Rocks had the majority of the first half with several probing runs by Daryl Hubert-Smith playing up front from well delivered ball from the midfield and within five minutes of the start Hubert-Smith fired a great shot just wide of the post.
With Jamel Fisher continually moving from midfield down the right he created several chances that were blocked and the home side conceded five consecutive corners just before half time which ended all square.
The second half proceeded with Rocks doing all the attacking, again great approach work without finishing on the occasions that chances came their way, this has been the problem all season and until they are able to bring in a goal scorer this situation will continue, their team has one of the best defenses in the league and manager Dan Gillispie is well aware of what is required.
Rocks captain Dan McNally, along with his co defenders Jack Edge, Rob Perry, Sven Hopes, Keeper Adam Clark midfield play maker Ryan Stevenson and Jamel Fisher kept a tight hold on Clanfield who had few chances until the goal that killed off Rocks chance of getting a point that at least they deserved.
Rocks next game is at home to Swindon College FC on Saturday 15th October KO 3.00pm.
