THORNBURY A made it three wins from four matches with a 13-7 away victory at Bath University.

Bradley Jenkins won 3-1 and there were comfortable 3-0 wins for Craig Webb and Callum Davidson. Ryan Wilson and Sam Davidson both lost 3-0 which meant Thornbury couldn’t add any gloss to the overall score. The result means the A’s form part of a three-way log jam at the top of the table with only three points separating David Lloyd, Vivo and Thornbury.

Thornbury B got off to a cracking start against Gordano with captain Justin Edwards annihilating his experienced opponent 9-1, 9-0, 9-2.

Dale Curtis was up next, using his experience to win his match 3-1.

Mark Toseland dug deep in his second game to turn it around and win 3-0 and Chris Hutchence put in a solid performance winning 3-1.

The final match saw Alex McMillan get stuck into a long epic hard hitting battle against his opponent who went 2-1 up.

The match looked like it was slipping away from Alex but he managed to take the fourth game which excited the crowd setting up an interesting final game.

Alex then turned on the class and finished his opponent with a 9-0 romp in the fifth.

This excellent team result keeps Thornbury B at the top of division one.

It was a tough night for the C team away to a revamped David Lloyd D team of players more used to life in the premier divisions of the league.

Nigel Tovey, playing at one string, sneaked the only point of the night against Chris Clare with a few well placed drop and boasts in a conditioned game.

Ian Talbot was unlucky not to take a game at five against Grant Jones however the rest of the team struggled against players who should be playing higher up the leagues.

A 1-19 loss overall, and on to next week.

Thornbury D lost out on the night 3-2 but took the win overall due to Shepton Mallet playing one of their players out of order. Viv Bailey-Gard looked like he was heading for a win after taking the first two games in his match but he couldn’t finish it off to end up losing 3-2. Colin Preece took his match 3-1 after a little wobble and an excellent result for Ian Johnson saw him win 3-1 as well. Nick Clifton lost out 3-1 in a tough match and Pete Bowen also lost 3-1, although that result could have been different if Bowen hadn’t made a call against himself that looked good from the balcony in a game he was winning 8-2 and went on to lose 10-8.

After the trek down to Weston for Thornbury E, Graham Dono and James Jenkins started proceedings but both came up against tough opponents and lost 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.

Then Bill Ellis won 3-2 and Matt Brown won 3-0.

The match was level with just the number one strings to play, but Nigel Ball fought hard but lost 3-0. Weston won 15-7.
