"Well done to all seven boys who competed at the National team finals this weekend. Great achievement!

"4 gold team medals, one silver medal and two scores of 10."

The Year-Seven student, who trains at Fromeside Gymnastics Club situated in Winterbourne, competed in Birmingham on Friday, November 4, along with a team other gymnasts who are representing the South West Squad - Euan Courtney, Ishu Ingale, Brad Lewis, Luke Baxter, James Puddy and Tom Saunders.

Individually, Thomas Payne competed on all six pieces of apparatus, bagging his perfect score on the pommel horse.

It's an event Thomas Payne has worked hard on and his endeavour has been rewarded.

His score is also testament to his trainers, whose tireless work has borne fruit with the Castle School pupil.

Thomas is trained by Karen Brewer and her team of men’s coaches.

The South West Team finished second overall in their level, taking home the silver medal for their troubles.

It was a fantastic result given all the months of hard work and training ahead of the National Gymnastic Finals.
