Tytherington Rocks 0 Cirencester Town Development 3

TYTHERINGTON Rocks slumped to defeat at home to Cirencester Town Development on Saturday.

The defeat sees the Rocks remain winless so far in the league this season.

Dan Gillespie’s side will be looking to bounce back this week when they face Woodstock Town who are level with Tytherington at the bottom of the league.

Saturday’s fixture took place on a wet and dreary December afternoon. In some respects, the weather dictated most of the afternoon’s football.

Both sides found it very hard to inflict sustained levels of pressure.

Tytherington certainly showed that they could mix it with a side who had 21 more points than them going into the game.

However, the visitors showed their class in the 25th minute when they took the lead.

Despite the unfavourable conditions, Cirencester strung together a series of neat passes that opened up the Rocks defence to take the lead.

Up until half time, Tytherington had the best of the chances.

Callum Francis headed straight at the keeper ten minutes before the break.

The Rocks were unlucky to be behind at half-time.

The rain kept on coming but the determination of the Rocks could not be faulted as the second half kicked off.

Lewis Beezer was presented with a half-chance five minutes into the half but his shot flew over the bar.

The Rocks came close to winning the ball in the opposition’s penalty area multiple times.

Like so often, though, Tytherington’s attacking intent was not rewarded with a goal.

The game was temporarily stopped on 70 minutes when a strong 50-50 tackle resulted in a Cirencester free-kick. Tytherington’s technical area shouted in protest at the decision which they felt should have gone the other way.

Referee Tom Green took action to the incident by sending off substituted winger Jamel Fisher for dissent.

Cirencester widened the margin to two goals when another slick move from the away side saw them get behind the Rocks defence following a cross from the right.

Goalkeeper Adam Clark saved well but forward Danny Gudger was there to tap the rebound in.

Cirencester scored again on 81 minutes following sustained pressure from Tytherington. Now the Rocks face a bottom of the table clash on Saturday at home to Woodstock Town. KO 3pm.
