Thornbury Town 1 Patchway Town 1
THORNBURY Town were not at the races as a well below par performance ended in a 1-1 draw against local rivals Patchway Town.
The home side’s first effort on goal was a good move by Lancastle and Franklin but the latter’s shot was well saved by the keeper.
In fact Patchway were the better side for the first fifteen minutes but they were unable to break through and by the break it was still level at 0-0.
The opening goal on 55 minutes came from the visitor’s and it was a break down the right to the by-line and the ball squared back across goal where Thornbury’s central defender Pete Fowler unfortunately turned the ball into his own net in trying to clear.
The home side levelled the score ten minutes later in similar fashion Toby Webb getting to the by-line and squaring the ball back across goal where the visitors defence failed to clear and the ball fell invitingly to Mark Viner to drive home from six yards.
Patchway Town were reduced to ten men on seventy minutes when Liam Planter received a second yellow card but the home side were unable to make the extra man count and the final score finished 1-1.
