THORNBURY Rugby Club will welcome back their most famous former players, brothers Mako and Billy Vunipola, to their junior club on Saturday February 18.

Mako and Billy will be at Thornbury rugby club for the first XVs home game with Newent that afternoon. It will be the first time the boys have been together at the club since they headed off to finish their education at public school.

It is hoped Mako will be making his return from injury for Saracens at Gloucester the evening before whilst Billy is still on the injured list.

However it is planned that they will both be at the rugby club around mid-day and will carry out a coaching session for Thornbury Under 10s prior to Thornbury’s league game, which kicks off at 2.30pm.

It is hoped the whole Vunipola family will be returning to Thornbury where individually and collectively they had a great influence on the community.

The brothers are looked upon by the junior players of Thornbury rugby club as role models for young Thornbury people to aspire to by playing rugby for their local team and developing skills which took them to the very top of the sport.

Meeting such world class players on the doorstep is a unique event, and it may attract a larger crowd than normal for the rugby match.

Therefore the rugby club have asked that car sharing be considered if possible to avoid congestion in the car park.
