Ros Rowland headed east to take part in the Thames Trot 50 on Saturday.

This arduous race along the scenic banks and towpaths of the Thames starts in Oxford and finishes 50 miles later in Henley.

Ros commented that the course was muddy after Friday’s rain and relied upon navigating to check points along the course.

Many of the competitors were eliminated as strict time limits were not met.

However, this was of no concern to Ros who finished the event as the first V50 in 10 hours 12 mins.

Four Thornbury ladies made the trip to compete in Longleat 10k, an undulating and hilly course starting in front of the grandeur of Longleat House and racing around the estate roads.

Jo Williams made it round first in a very respectable 52:33mins.

Cathy Watkins was targeting a sub one hour time for the first time and narrowly missed out by taking just 35 seconds over the hour mark for her run.

Chasing Cathy were Suzy Cundy (one hour four mins) and Magda Johnson, who took one hour nine minutes for the run.
