Stroud and District League Table Tennis round-up

Division 1: Thornbury A had a comfortable 8-2 victory on their visit to Phoenix A, Anthony Kent scored a maximum and finished as man of the match for the visitors.

Forest Green A kept the pressure on the division one leaders when they beat the visiting Frampton A 9-1, Chris and Louis Price each recorded a maximum.

Phoenix B suffered an 8-2 defeat at home to the visiting Woodchester B, Clive Ellison and Nick Collins each returned maximums for the visitors.

Division 2: Cam A suffered a resounding 0-10 defeat when they entertained the league leaders Randwick A, Steve Charlwood, Tirian Jakes and George Evans all going unbeaten.

Thornbury B recorded a 7-3 home win against Whiteshill B but it was the visitors Paul Hopgood who finished as man of the match as he scored a maximum.

Nailsworth A suffered a 3-7 home defeat when they entertained Phoenix C, Arran Skinner was on fine form for the visitors finishing with a maximum.

Division 3: In a close fought match between two of the top teams in the division the points were shared at five apiece when Woodchester C entertained Thornbury C.

Barry Morgan was unbeaten for Woodchester and finished as man of the match. Woodchester D had more success when they entertained their visitors from Phoenix D, Pat Pumphry was the pick of the players as he scored a max for the home team.

In a battle to avoid relegation the scores finished at five all between Randwick C and their Phoenix E opponents, John Catterall finished as man of the match scoring a max for the visitors.

Whiteshill C were too strong for the visiting Cam B as they inflicted a whitewash, Allan Lardner, Chris Kowalczuk and Terry Jordan were the victorious team.

Sam McIvor and Jon Ramsbotham each returned maximums for Phoenix F when they defeated the visiting Randwick D 9-1 to hold onto the top spot.

Division 4: In what was not a good week for Cam & Dursley, their C team suffered the same fate as their two senior teams and were whitewashed at home at the hands of Randwick E, Pablo Carrington, Theo Laffort and Lincoln Green were the victors.

Thornbury D just avoided the whitewash as they went down 1-9 to the visiting Phoenix H who had Chris Hampton and Howard Spellman to thank for maximums.

Mark Davis had a busy night and scored a max for his Nailsworth B side but couldn’t prevent them losing 4-6 to their C team club mates. Fred Donald scored a maximum for Phoenix G when they shared the spoils at five each with the visiting division leaders Forest Green C.

Frampton D move into second position after beating their Forest Green D hosts 8-2, Len Agg was man of the match as he scored a maximum for the visitors.
