FORMER Thornbury Bronco Billy Vunipola put himself back in the frame for a start in England’s last Six Nations Championship clash of the season in Dublin next weekend by scoring a try as the nation routed Scotland at Twickenham on Saturday.
It was Vunipola’s first appearance in an England jersey since suffering a knee injury in the Autumn Tests.
The ex-Thornbury back row came on as a replacement at number eight for Nathan Hughes in the second half of the 61-21 victory.
And, within minutes of coming on, the number eight scored one of the seven England tries in the match when he drove over from short range.
Now Vunipola and his brother, who also came on as a replacement, have put themselves not only in line for a start against Ireland next weekend but on the short-list for British Lions selection when the squad is announced next month.
