FORMER Bristol points record-holder Alan Pearn was guest of honour for Thornbury’s home game with Okehampton.
Pearn, who scored 2,047 points for Bristol in the 1970s, played for Thornbury after his Bristol career came to an end. He also played for Okehampton, his hometown club, when home for University.
He later worked as a PE teacher at the Castle School until his retirement. He was joined on Saturday by Thornbury RFC’s current club captain Liam Pemberton and the club’s sponsorship officer David Parry-Jones.
* Thornbury third XV lost 59-7 to Cotham Park Second XV last weekend, although most of the opposition were first XV players as Cotham Park’s first XV game had been called off for that weekend.
This Saturday Thornbury third XV are the only side playing and they take on Yate RFC at home in a 1:30 kick off.
