THORNBURY Second’s game with Old Colstonians was called off but the Third XV beat Broad Plain 45-19 in a fine game.
The Development XV enjoyed a resounding 41-5 win over Chew Valley colts in the semi-final of the County Colts Cup. Tries were scored by Ben Bliss (2), Jake Wood, Jake Goodridge, Henry Low, Tyler Tyrrell and Harry Weston with Josh Panting converting three.
The team now plays Hornets in the final at Hartpury College on Sunday April 9th.
This weekend with the First XV at Weston the Second XV are at St Bernadette’s whilst the Third XV are home to Fairford in a friendly.
* Last weekend Thornbury hosted Gloucester Former Players who walked to Thornbury as part of their celebrations of 125 years of rugby at Kingsholm.
Initially the plan for the charity walk had been to continue to Ashton Gate for the Bristol v Gloucester game bu,t when that fixture was switched to the previous Friday, the walkers walked to a pub in Berkeley on Sunday instead.
* Thornbury’s 2017 Annual Dinner will have leading referee Wayne Barnes as its guest speaker. The referee who officiated the remarkable 2017 France v Wales Six Nations international will be at Thornbury in June 3rd.
