BRISTOL’S Judd Trump will face Wellingbourgh’s Rory McLeod in the first round of the World Snooker Championships next week.

Trump will start out on his mission to win a first world title on Tuesday and, if he wins that match, he is due to face either of the Glasgow-born Scotsmen in the first round – Anthony McGill or former UK champion Stephen Maguire.

Trump will know who he will play in the second round by the end of the weekend as McGill and Maguire take to the table on Saturday and conclude thier match on Sunday.

But Gloucester’s Rob Milkins, who had a great run in the Welsh Open earlier this year, will not be at the Crucible in Sheffield over the next two weeks.

He was 6-1 down in his first qualifying round match to Switzerland’s Alexander Ursenbacher and never recovered enough to make a match of it, going down 10-6.

The tournament gets underway in snooker's famous venue on Saturday when defending champion Mark Selby takes to the table against Ireland's Fergal O'Brien.
