OLVESTON first team kept their unbeaten record intact with a very mature performance on Saturday against second placed Wick to win 3-0.

Olveston started the stronger side and competed strongly for every header and 50/50 tackle and having the better opportunities without any luck of breaking the deadlock but on 20mins the breakthrough came.

It all started from the skipper Phil Williams winning the ball and then distributing to Joe Loney at left back who just inside their half whipped a ball into the box with their centre back cooly heading it over their own keeper.

Being 1-0 up settled the boys down and Wick also picked up a few injuries to their striker and goalkeeper and were left stretched of resources. Jon Woodward had to also be substituted and it was a welcome return to the side for Russ Driver.

Second Half started much the same with Olveston pressing and stretching the defences and another chance was made just outside the box and who better to fall to than George Williams who took it down on the chest and volleyed it home.

That took all the sting out out the match and left Olveston in control. Both teams were reduced to 10 men after an off the ball incident with Olveston losing Russ Driver from the field. Wick were pushing to get back in the game and sending players forward which meant Olveston could counter quickly.

The ball got headed away from a corner and played down the line from Joe Loney to make a 2 on 1 situation with Matty Knight's pace he dragged the last defender away and slotted the ball across to George Williams who dispatched it with ease as the game finished 3-0.
