BRISTOL will kick-off their Championship season against Gloucester-based Hartpury College on Sunday September 3 at Ashton Gate.

Bristol will play five fixtures on a Saturday (two at 2:30pm KO, two at 12:30pm to avoid clashing with England Autumn Internationals), four fixtures on a Sunday (2pm KO) and two floodlit Friday night games (7:45pm KO) at Ashton Gate.

The festive clash with Cornish Pirates on Saturday, December 23 will be a 6pm KO.

Chief operations officer Mark Tainton said: "As well as the right balance of traditional Friday and Sunday fixtures, there was an appetite amongst the fan base for Saturday rugby.

“We feel this is a fantastic opportunity for us to attract supporters to the Gate and be part of our promotion push in the 2017/18 season.

"We are looking forward to creating a fortress atmosphere at Ashton Gate."

Bristol will play Richmond on Sunday September 17 and Ealing Trailfinders on Friday September 29.

They have one home match in October against London Scottish on Saturday October 7 at 2.30pm.

With no play-offs in the new season, Bristol will return to the Aviva Premiership if they finish top of the table, which they had done on a number of occasions in previous seasons in the Championship.
