THORNBURY enjoyed their fourth win from nine West of England Premier League Prem 2 Glos/Wilts league clashes on Saturday as they saw off bottom team Hatherley and Reddings by a comfortable 91 runs.

Home side Thornbury won the toss and batted first and looked good as openers Dan Davis and Ed Webb got going.

Patient Webb took 43 balls to hit 17, including three boundaries, and was first out when he was bowled by Hatherley’s Jack Clement, who went on to take three wickets, with the score on 66.

Two runs later, Davis followed suit as he just fell short of a half-century with 47.

And, when number three Josh Slade became Clement’s third victim for five with the score on 77, Hatherley must have thought their luck was in.

But that was to be the end of it as, for the rest of the innings, Thornbury’s Luke Davis and Danny Slade smashed the visitors to all parts of the ground.

Davis was superb as he raced to 132 not out off 104 balls which included two sixes and no less than 21 boundaries.

And Slade was no slouch at the other end as he smashed nine fours from the labouring Hatherley bowling in his 67 not out.

The two batsmen took Thornbury to a thumping 277-3 in their fifty overs.

And, with the batsmen laying down the gauntlet, the bowlers did not disappoint.

Hatherley were reduced to 14-2 as Tom Bradley trapped opener Jim Green lbw for two, and George Hill became the first of four catches from Thornbury wicketkeeper Vishal Mamgai off the bowling of Bradley.

Max Kelly was next to go as Mamgai grabbed the ball from a Luke Franklin delivery, and when Andre Soma was caught, again by the Thornbury gloveman, for 21, and number six Raynaldo Estick went lbw to Luke Davis for four, Hatherley were on 77-5 – exactly two hundred runs short of the target.

Hatherley’s Tom Hage stubbornly stuck in and reached his half-century before Josh Slade took a fine caught and bowled to eliminate the dangerman for 54.

From there, Hatherley struggled and, other than 42 from number eight Ollie Perks, thornbury were always on top as the visitors ended on 186 all out.

Danny Slade was the cief wicket-taker with an impressive 3-18 from just 4.3 overs. Bradley and Dan Davis both picked up two wickets, with Franklin, Luke Davis and Josh Slade getting one each.
