Almondsbury 1sts v Coalpit Heath 1sts

ALMONDSBURY skipper Garth Jackson kept faith with last week’s victorious side as they took on league leaders Coalpit Heath.

Coalpit Heath batted first and were soon in trouble as they collapsed to 66-4 but Kyle Rose (60) and Jack Williams (39) turned things round for the visitors aided by some poor catching by Almondsbury.

The leaders eventually closed their innings on 206-7 with Neal smiting 20 runs off the final over. Wickets were evenly spread between the Almondsbury bowlers with Jones 2-34, Frolich 1-30, Parkinson 1-23, Persaud 2-44 and Liam Hartigan 1-41.

In reply, Almondsbury started quickly as Andy Parkinson took 29 runs off the first three overs before guiding one to the grateful hands of Aaron Neal at backward point.

The home side then struggled for runs as they collapsed to 125-8. Matt Grute (22) and Mike Frolich (24 not) tried to revive the situation but were unable to compete the job as Almondsbury were all out for 171 losing by 35 runs.

Jack Williams 3-22, Jason Hendy 2-24, Kyle Rose 2-37, and Daffyd Nicholas 2-29 doing the damage for Coalpit Heath.
