Thornbury fourths v Hanham

THORNBURY fourths welcomed Hanham to a sun-drenched Tockington Manor and won an incredible match by a single run.

Buoyed by a good recent run of form with only one defeat in five the team was in good spirits.

Thornbury lost the toss and were asked to bat.

Slade and Tom Rimmer reached fifty without any scares before Sladey fell for 27. Paul Bowden then fell to a neat low slip catch with the score on 53 for 2.

Andy Moffat added 31 and Clarkey 29 both pairing nicely with new opening sensation Tom Rimmer who scored 64.

Young Josh Rimmer is looking more assured with each week and Ollie Nash stroking the ball all round the park.

Rimmer finished 31 not out and Nash added 24 as the innings closed on 237 for 6.

It's a job to know if that's enough at Tockington and Hanham's reply reached 80 before young Alec Faulner removed French for 32.

Hanham pushed on but the kids refused to give in. Halliwell bowled the last over with 15 needed and watched a brave attempt from Nash at deep long on pass through the hands and over for 6.

Two runs came from the next ball, two wides and one dot ball. Four were needed of the last ball. Halliwell held his nerve as the shot found Slade at long off and Thorns were home by one run.
