THORNBURY went down to a sixth West of England Premier League Prem 2 Glos/Wilts division defeat on Saturday when they lost by two wickets at home to Chippenham.

Thornbury won the toss and batted first, but two ducks in the first three batsmen was not the brightest of starts.

Dan Davis held the innings together with a sprightly 44 from 36 balls before he was caught.

Luke Davis added 22 while Marcus Wormwell, at number seven, scored 23. Tenth man Jordan Hicks had a blast with four boundaries and two sixes in his 31 from 26 balls as Thornbury were 170 all out.

Chippenham were solid in the top order in reply and their first five batsmen all scored well to set them on the way to victory as they reached 174-8 at the end of the match.
