CASTLE School, Thornbury, are celebrating after some fine results at the third Bristol Schools Fencing competition last Sunday.

The school had five competitors, two in the senior event and three in the juniors as well as the team event.

In the individual competitions, all the students fought very well in the initial pool rounds and, in the ranking pool, the final results saw Ed Miller and Tabitha De N’Yeurt finish second and Emily Harbord in third.

Not only was this a great display of individual performances for both girls and boys, combined it also meant that they won the overall team competition.

The team was Matthew Harbord, Matty Dawson, Emily Harbord, Ed Miller and Tabitha De N’Yeurt.

They beat off strong competition from many of the Bristol public schools and it was a fantastic achievement and a great reward for all the hard training, that these students put in.

Tabitha is currently in the U15 England Fencing squad, hoping to qualify again for the England team, with a view to increasing her GB ranking.

The Castle School is extremely proud of all their performances and continue to be amazed by their consistent ability to produce excellent school work at the same time as following a full training programme.

The school said: “We continue to support these students with their fencing.”
