Thornbury thirds entertained Bedminster fouths with Thorns looking to cement their place in the top two

With a much changed line up and debutants Jimmy Halliwell and Greg Messer, Harry Hawkins chose to bat on a dry firm pitch at the Manor.

Bedminster openers Peacock and Drizzle bowled straight and wicket to wicket. Peacock in particular getting some nice away swing leaving Thornbury openers Rhys Price and Harry Hawkins limited opportunities to score.

Rhys nibbled at one and fell to second slip off Peacock. Following two well struck boundaries from Hawkins and looking for another drive, was cleaned up by Drizzle for 12.

Then followed a collapse of epic proportions asfive wickets fell without a run being scored.

Firstly Carl Botha was run out with his handbrake on, Jason Riggs clipped one to gully, Chris Stutter fell LBW and one ball later Jack Summerfield clipped it round to corner and was caught.

Finally Ollie Nash went to a good catch leaving Thorns on 25-7.

Alex Riggs stopped the rot by hitting three boundaries off Patel before he too was bowled and the tail of youngsters; Jimmy Halliwell and Alex Foulner stood little chance as Thorns were bowled out for 42 inside 20 overs. Patel picking up 4-14.

With tea still in the shops, Bedminster took just seven overs to knock off the required runs, although a crumb of comfort was a sharp run out by Rhys Price and Jimmy Halliwell removing the dangerous Hedges then Jimmy himself bowled a superb delivery two balls later to remove skipper Jones to give Thorns a point for their dismal day.

Thorns remain in second place and drove to The Ship ground for large slice of humble pie.
