Almondsbury 2nds 200 ao lost to Whitchurch, Somerset 201-8 by two wickets

ALMONDSBURY seconds concluded their Bristol and District Association Eighth Division season on Saturday with a disappointing two-wicket defeat against Whitchurch.

Batting first, the home side totalled 200 before being all out with seasoned campaigners Steve Braund making 39 and Kuwinder Sappal 35. The wickets were well spread amongst the Whitchurch bowlers with Ben Thatcher 2-41, Billy Padfield 2-34, Ashley Perrott 2-33, Matt Williams 1-29, Simon Meszaros 1-27, and Paul Dury 2-5.

In reply, Whitchurch set off at a furious pace as 56 came off the first 6 overs. However, wickets fell at regular intervals to keep the Almondsbury bowlers interested but come the 35th over, Whitchurch reached their target.

Runs were evenly spread between the visiting batsmen as Matt Williams scored 36, Craig Cairns was undefeated on 35 and Martin Peters made 34. For Almondsbury, Kavi Perrara took 2-53, Andy Taylor 2-41, Chris Slade 1-24 and Kulwinder Sappal 3-36.
