Premiership Rugby A League

Bristol United 24 Bath United 47

TWENTY points from the boot of former Scarlets fly-half Josh Lewis steered Bath United to a bonus point victory over Bristol United on the RFU Artificial Grass Pitch at Hornets RFC in Weston-super-Mare.

The visitors scored into a healthy lead after just twenty minutes through a try in the corner from full back Darren Atkins. Lewis added the conversion and two penalties and then the extras to the touchdown from hooker Nathan Charles.

Bristol came back into the game and, when prop Will Vaughan was sent for ten minutes in the sin-bin, wing Jack Wallace scored in the corner with fly-half and captain Callum Sheedy adding the touchline conversion.

Bath stretched their half time 20-7 advantage when they were awarded a penalty try and a Lewis penalty before Wallace crossed for his second try. But and interception led to the visitors bonus point try from wing Levi Davis.

With ten minutes remaining replacement prop Paddy Ryan claimed Bath's fifth before flanker Josh Bayliss became the second Bath player to be yellow carded. Bristol took advantage of the extra man to score two tries.

Replacement Alex Gibson crossed for the first followed by a touchdown from flanker Callum Bowden. But it was Bath who had the last word with a Lewis penalty to give his side their first A league success of the season.
