Buildbase FA Trophy

Tytherington Rocks 1 Longlevens 8

ONCE again, Tytherington Rocks suffered a heavy defeat in The Buildbase FA Vase Trophy Cup at The Hardwicke Field.

Playing against a very good Hellenic Premier side it was always going to be a hard task, at half time Rocks had conceded three goals and replied with one of the best goals of the game when 18-year-old Owen Badham took the ball from halfway inside Longlevens half on a run beating two defenders.

Drawing the Longlevens keeper off his line, he lobbed the ball from just inside the penalty box over Ashley Wintle to score and bring the Rocks back into the game at 2-1.

However, on half-time, Levens scored their third goal.

The second-half started badly for the home side when Levens scored their fourth goal in the 49th minute by Bradley Martin and from then on the opposition scored at regular intervals as Rocks heads went down and a lack of fitness showed once again.

Manager Ian Giles has recently signed another four players who, on Saturday’s performance, looked likely to improve the team once they have a few games under their belts, Rocks keeper Ben Goode brought off some excellent saves and was named man of the match by the opposition manager.

Rocks next league game is at home on Saturday against Letcombe FC KO 3pm.
