THORNBURY A started their Premier A campaign against newly-promoted Shepton Mallet A,

Thornbury's number one string Jeremy Harris started the night losing his game 3-0 against a very strong opponent. Meanwhile, captain Brad Jenkins made light work of his match winning 3-0.

There were 3-1 wins for Callum Davidson and Alex McMillan whilst and Craig Webb sealed the victory coming from 0-2 down to win 3-2, with a match score of 16-7.

Thornbury B team started their division one campaign home to Redland E with an unexpected outcome which ultimately resulted in a 3-2 loss to the team. Rob Livingstone returned to the autumn league and put on an impressive display winning 3-1.

Justin Edwards had a long gritty match against a youthful strong opponent but ultimately lost 3-2.

Chris Hutchence won his match comfortably 3-1 with Cliff Hall losing 3-0.

With the overall match score at 2-2, the number one strings went on and commenced battle.

The game score was 1-1 and then the lights were switched off as the match overran which unfortunately meant the match was conceded with bonus points going to the opposition.

The first Thornbury C team game in division two was away to Gordano A at Gordano School which unfortunately coincided with the Portbury Hundred road closure meaning a one-hour delay to the start of the match.

Still reeling from the journey, perhaps, Thornbury quickly conceded the first two matches.

Next was Pete Bowen who was looking promising at 2-1 in games but unfortunately picked up a knee injury from slipping on the recently sanded court and it ended up a 3-2 loss.

Viv Bailey-Gard at position one was also looking under pressure, conceding the first two games, but then with a bit of magic Viv turned it around and he went on to win 3-2.

Alex Hall was last on court, he also lost the first two games but fought back well and was looking strong, winning 9-0 in the fourth game, unfortunately his opponent responded in the fifth and sneaked a narrow 3-2 victory. Final score 18-8 to Gordano.

Thornbury D were missing a couple of players in their long away trip to Shepton Mallet B in division three.

Unfortunately, Shepton were too strong on the night taking a clean sweep of matches and winning 19-2.
