Badminton 1 Thornbury 3

BOTH sides contributed to an enjoyable game in this early morning match at Yate.

The home side took the lead with a well taken effort from Nicola Trueman which gave visiting stand in keeper Elaine Arnold no chance.

Play seesawed from end to end with Badmintons efforts well directed by captain Jenni Munro.

The young Thornbury side, with an average age of 19 ,gradually came into the game and equalised through Megan McLachlan whose first time strike gave the keeper no chance.

Badminton made a number of dangerous sorties into the Thornbury half but some splendid defending from Rosie Liddington, Carys Allen and Lu- Lu Taylor meant that the home side could not add to their goal total.

Thornbury took the lead when captain Nicola Bruce was on hand to deftly guide the ball into goal from a Jess Taylor pass Megan Allen was a livewire in midfield for Thornbury whilst Anna Prince and Amy Holder combined well together.

Molly Smith and Keelin Hales also contributed with some pleasing interchanges to set up the front attackers Thornbury scored a third goal seconds from the end when Megan Allen hammered home.

Thornbury face a difficult challenge on Saturday when BAC seconds visit Castle School 10.30am Thornbury seconds reluctantly had to cancel their home game with North Wilts seconds when the visitors were unable to agree to change of start to allow the home club to provide both umpires for the game.
