Thornbury Town Reserves 1 Taverners Reserves 0
THORNBURY Town’s reserve side secured an important win on Saturday with a late goal.
In what was a tight game throughout, neither side created many chances and both goalkeepers had a fairly uneventful afternoon.
Thorns almost took the lead ten minute before half-time when Asher Budd’s header was cleared off the line by Taverners Fran King.
Almost immediately, Felix Brittain’s shot was spilled by the keeper but the danger was cleared.
In the second-half, Josh Reed found himself clear but was brought down just outside the penalty area but the resultant free kick came to nothing.
However Town secured the win four minutes from time when Reed and Harry Smith linked up well to set Asher Budd clear and the striker held his nerve to steer his shot wide of keeper Kerry and into the corner of the net.
